Cancer Wellness at Piedmont’s Programs and Services for May

Comprehensive Complimentary Services Offered to Anyone Affected by Cancer

Cancer Wellness at Piedmont offers comprehensive services and programs for anyone affected by cancer at any phase in his or her journey. Classes offered every month include: Cancer Wellfit©, Gentle Yoga, Art Therapy, Guided Imagery and Relaxation for Optimal Health, Mindfulness Training 101 & 201, Breast Cancer Support, Gynecological Cancer Support, and A Guy’s Group.

Some special events for May:

Power Foods for Cancer Prevention - Be inspired to eat well and live well! Join Shayna Komar, registered and licensed dietician from Cancer Wellness at Piedmont, as she educates you on the power of food to fuel your body. This fun and interactive workshop will make you want to try new recipes and get moving to fight cancer. A light lunch will be provided using “power food” ingredients. Kick Up Your Heals - Pink Heals Foundation, Inc., in partnership with Cancer Wellness at Piedmont, presents programming to help survivors in their 20s, 30s and early 40s regain their strength, confidence and sense of self. Join Lisa Vingerling on Thursday, May 28 from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Poetry Workshops with John Fox, Poet, Teacher and Author - Experience the power of writing to heal through your own words. John Fox, author and certified poetry therapist, will show you the power of your own words to deepen understanding, provide comfort and bring relief to life’s traumas. Three sessions available Monday, May 18 at 10 a.m., Noon, and intensive writing at 1 p.m. Film and lunch from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and poetry reading on Tuesday, May 19 at 4 p.m..

Depression and Cancer: What’s normal? What’s not? – Join Lynne Padgett, Ph.D., to discuss signs of depression, both physical and emotional, as well as how you can assess the severity of it along with ways of coping, including medication options, therapy and CAM therapies. Tuesday, May 12 from Noon until 1:30 p.m. (lunch provided)
